I recently wrote about found sounds, of taking rhythms of sounds from nature or traffic or whatever. An example I mentioned was Jive Talkin' by the Bee Gees, who wrote the song though listening to the sound their car's tires made while driving on a bridge. According to Wikipedia, the song was originally called "Drive Talkin'", which is just silly.
Truth be told, musicians do it all the time. They either don't want to mention it and chalk it up to their own genius, or perhaps just to hide their inspiration style. It's been done millions of times, throughout history, throughout the world.
Take, for instance, my bedroom ceiling fan. I think that it had the best rhythms ever. It's always off-tempo and never repeats the same sound patterns. Still, the rhythms are contagious. My ceiling fan is a chance musical prodigy that has never been discovered.
Of course, there are variables to its sound and I've had a blast figuring those variables out.
