I got my first tattoo the week that I was legally able to under Illinois law. It's still one of my favorites.
No one talks about it much, but tattoos send out that subliminal street cred. They look great from stage. My very first tattoo; I like to flash it from stage every now and then. It's just hidden enough to be sexy but can only be shown when I want it to be visible. My own little secret.
Now, as a newer-ish mother, the tattoo rules have changed a bit. I would have never imagined that my daughter would want to emulate me or draw her own little toddler tattoos all over her tiny little arms.
In fact, any chance that she gets a marker in her hands, she's writing all over her arms and legs. I can't yell at her or I'd be a hypocrite. After all, Mommy and Daddy have pretty pictures all over their bodies. Why wouldn't she want that, too?
So, I'm just saying... consider the fact that if you ever want children someday, there is a GOOD chance that little he/she will be drawing all over themselves emulating what you have on your own arms. So, if that means flaming skulls or monkeys riding tricycles, you have to make peace with that. Just don't yell at them when they do it.
Robert here. I just wanted to add that I can't wait for our little one to get her first tattoo. It'll be so exciting taking her to the shop and helping her pick one out. Or helping her draw it herself. That will be a lot of fun. When she's 18 and wants her first tattoo, that will be Daddy's birthday present to her. If she wants one. If she doesn't want any ink done, well that's totally cool too. Robert, over and out.
Well, we'll see. And, I'm out too.
